So ... for the latest round of the Tonks story at CoS, I just finished a scene in which Tonks finally gets to meet some characters who had previously only been talked about by other people. Three and a half thousand words of it. Six and a half pages of A4.

Set in a bloody beauty parlour.

Right.

Like my knowledge of such things extends beyond watching Cutting It. It seemed like a good idea at the time ...

I'm really setting myself up for a fall here, aren't I? :)

It's a wizarding beauty parlor, isn't it? That should be sufficient to explain any discrepancies with the real world...

I should think so, yes - I'm not really that worried, it's just that it's rather ironic. It was more the character interaction I was thinking of anyway, but any oddities there I can put down to the nature of the individuals concerned, none of whom have appeared onstage before for comparison. (Well, apart from our heroine, of course.)

And come to think of it, all of my 'knowledge' of police work comes from detective stories, but that's never bothered me yet for exactly the same reason. Sometimes the Potterverse background comes in really handy ...

Two years and counting on my hair (though I may be changing that soon - eek!) and yeah, I'd say Cutting It is about it for my knowledge too. So no worries about nitpickery from me either...;)

Two years? Five? Oy. I prefer my hair longish, but I can't really imagine letting it grow that long (it starts to feel annoyingly heavy when it gets to about collar length).

Then again, I tend to let my little fingernails grow and grow until they actually break ... (As a teenager, and even later, I grew them all long, but after doing a history exam where fast scribbling meant that a long thumbnail started digging holes in my index finger, I finally gave up on that. I probably kept the long nails just to annoy people who told me to get them cut ...)

Er, yes, I am rather odd at times. :)

Mine is about mid-back-length, and has never shown the slightest sign of wanting to grow longer. I figure it's found its natural length, and who am I to argue with it?
