and a happy belated birthday for yesterday to

[livejournal.com profile] junediamanti!

Lyrics: The last one was a traditional song called Poor Paddy or Paddy Works On The Railway dating from ... erm, I'm not sure actually, I've never found a reference. I'd guess late Victorian or Edwardian era. However, [livejournal.com profile] tree_and_leaf and [livejournal.com profile] nineveh_uk had heard of it.

Next up -- this was playing on some video channel in the pub last night. I'm sure we can all relate to these lines sometimes!

Don't push me, 'cos I'm close to the edge
I'm tryin' not to lose my head
It's like a jungle sometimes, it makes me wonder
How I keep from going under
It's like a jungle sometimes, it makes me wonder
How I keep from going under
(1980s)

The Message, by Grandmaster Flash. I have it on this machine. It was also used with comparative wit in the cartoon, Happy Feet.

And thanks for the birthday greetings, cheers!

Not a clue about today's lyric - but the Pogues may have covered "Poor Paddy"?
