snorkackcatcher: (Happy Birthday)

Lyrics: Yesterday's song was of course Evanescence's My Immortal from 2003, another shipper-story anthem. :) It was identified by [livejournal.com profile] pythonblossom, [livejournal.com profile] lareinenoire, [livejournal.com profile] sporkyadrasteia, [livejournal.com profile] virginia_bell, and [livejournal.com profile] lupinslittlesis.

Oh well, for this one I might as well continue the theme of songs I like despite how naff they're meant to be. :) This should be an easy one, although bonus points if you know who did the original version!

"Children, behave!"
That's what they say when we're together
"And watch how you play!"
They don't understand
And so we're running just as fast as we can
Holding onto one another's hand
Trying to get away into the night
And then you put your arms around me
and we tumble to the ground ...
(1960s, big hit cover version 1980s)

"I think we're alone now...doesn't seem to be anyone arooooound" right? Tiffany? I Think We're Alone Now?

I didn't know it was a cover though. I'm such an oblivious child of the 80s!

Damn, too slow! I do know it was Tommy James & the Shondells originally, though.

Post the cheesy, and notice how I actually know the answers. Not only do I know that the 1960s version was the Beatles and is called "I Think We're Alone Now", but I also know (and know better) that the 1980's version was done by Tiffany.

Or at least I think it was the Beatles. I've been wrong about music many, many times before.

Nope, not the Beatles. American band called Tommy James and the Shondells. (Tommy James is, I'm pretty sure, the person who foisted "Crimson and Clover" upon us, as well.)

Thanks for the birthday wishes!

I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit that I'm more familiar with Tiffany's version of "I Think We're Alone Now" than I am the original. ;-)

Oh God, many a drunken night screeching to that tune in a cheesy student bar! I know the Tiffany version, which I'm guessing would be the cover.

I actually heard that in a taxi on the way from Ely to Cambridge on Saturday night, and five of us - ex wedding guests, if that explains things - were compelled to sing it with enthusiasm. On the other hand, we were all pretty sober and non-vomiting, so the drive probably reckoned he had got off lightly.

Perhaps I should rephrase that as "capable of coherent conversation and walking in a straight line".
