Here's one -- big hit, big name act -- that a lot of people didn't get at my pub quiz on Sunday night, even when I started giving them clues. :) Although I can think of one person who's incorporating the title into a story ...

It is indeed. Though even a clue like 'by a foreign band, title in a different foreign language' didn't help, although one team did guess A-Ha ... Perhaps they simply didn't want to admit knowing it, but I suppose I must have no shame. :)

The story may have hit a slight SOS and got put on the backburner, where it could have been Hasta Manana, baby, all too easily. But thanks to a timely reminder, I'll try and get to work on Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A fic after midnight). ;)

I always liked that story. It's wonderfully bizarre, and yet you wouldn't be entirely surprised if the Spy Pumpkins had actually popped up in one of the books. :)

They're actually rather good, to be honest. It's just the "Eurovision winner" reputation that makes them seem a bit naff (and the clothes, of course, but then they were hardly unusual for 1970s acts :D).

I still like them! We've been going through all my old vinyl with a view to transerring it to CD and I pulled all four Abba albums into the 'save' pile. I saw Iain wince.
Mind you, he likes John Martyn, so he can't complain.

I acquire all sorts of odd stuff to use in the pub quizzes, and hate throwing anything away! I even gritted my teeth and bought Westlife's Greatest Hits (when the price came down) on the grounds that they didn't appear on Now compilations and the like. Not that I can remember a single one of them, apart from the cover versions, but then I was never their target market. :)

Transferring vinyl to MP3 and then on to CD seems to be quite easy -- I did it for the vinyl I had left (not that much, sadly, and mostly my dad's) with one cable to link the stereo and the PC and an open-source program called Audacity.
