The World Languages Test meme
Sep. 21st, 2006 10:24 amOne of those quiz memes, gacked from
fernwithy:
Flattering, but nonsensical, as apart from a little half-remembered school French, I only know English. :) It's the sort of quiz where general and historical knowledge plus a bit of interest in languages as a general subject rather than knowledge of any individual one is useful. (And ignore the 'other people your age' bit -- it's not the sort of site where I felt comfortable typing in accurate information.)
Lyrics: The last one was Turning Japanese by the Vapors from 1980, apparently a reference to ... erm, the effects of excessive DIY. Right. It was spotted by
lazy_neutrino and
dogstar101. A much more recent one now:
I was so lost back then
But with a little help from my friends
I found the light in the tunnel at the end
Now you're calling me up on the phone
So you can have a little whine and a moan
It's only because you're feeling alone (2000s)

Language Scholar You scored a 320 out of 400 on language knowledge. |
| Outstanding! You've scored higher than even most Anthropology students would. You are probably a Linguistics or Anthropology Professor yourself (or at least a Grad student). You may even speak several languages and are possibly working on a new one. If not, then you just have an endless drive to learn about the different cultures of our world. Regardless, you are one of the gems of any society, always promoting a deeper understanding amongst all people. Unless you cheated of course. |

My test tracked 1 variable How you compared to other people your age and gender:

Date: 2006-09-21 03:15 pm (UTC)How does it feel to be a gem of society?! As you said, I think a lot of these quizzes don't account for the fact that a bit of common sense and general literacy go a long way...
