While looking up Bill Weasley's Lexicon entry, I was surprised to see "The wedding [to Fleur] is scheduled to take place in France during the summer of 1997". If that's right, does anyone know where in HBP it says that? I couldn't find it -- at the end of the book Ron was telling Harry he needed to return to the Burrow for the wedding. Also, it sounds unlikely that JKR would shift the action across the Channel at the start of Book 7 ...

News to me!

She may, of course, just start book seven as they return from the wedding, or something - though if I were a Death Eater I'd be looking out for Harry at the ceremony.

And what were you looking up Bill's entry for, anyway? Planning something? I have a lexicon window permanently open when I'm writing: it saves so much time.

I certainly have it cushier than most teachers, I agree. My job does not stress me out (I've done five years in a really tough school and that was enough!) The long holiday is because the Golf Open is in Hoylake - they stared us back early last year and so we broke up early this year. But you'll get no grumbles about teaching from me :)

Could Molly say something along the lines of, we're saying France at the moment because that's where Fleur's family are from, but, given the current climate, we might have to move it. Pepper that with a few 'dear's and translate it into Mollyspeak and it doens't commit you to anything so you can't be wrong.

Still waiting for chapter 36 (?). Come on - I read the last one yesterday! I'm expecting it to segue gracefully into OotP with Tonks, possibly via Kingsley, discovering a few things she didn't know about the Black side of the family (or at least one member) and featuring a jolly nice werewolf. You can put some plot in too, if you like. I'm holding resolutely to a desire to see that Angelica woman arrested as the arch-baddie at the end. As my mother said once, 'I know what I think. Don't try and contradict me with facts.'

Job-hunting is foul. I did two years on the dole before I went into teaching. I've never known anything else eat at one's self-esteem the same way, which says a lot about the culture we live in. You have my sympathy.

I never saw the hug as shippy, I must say - I just like the two of them together and it's clear from OotP that they're great friends. I shall ensure that my banners and placards are ready for a Wolfstar protest march when you post the next bit.

How do you know Bill and Fleur haven't met? He only says he's in Egypt...

Good luck with finding a new job. You're in IT, aren't you?

Definitely no mention of France as the location for the wedding anywhere in HBP. There is a mention of the colour of the bridesmaids' dresses, but never anything about where it is to take place - except for Ron's statement about having to "come round to my mum and dad's house" on the very last page. This to me indicates that they plan to hold the wedding there.

The only two possible reasons I can think of to have it take place in France are:
- Tradition. Hereabouts (Germany) it is a custom that the bride's family is to host/pay for the wedding festivites; this might be the case in France as well, but I have no idea.
- Something JKR might have said that is not in the book.

It could still work despite Ron's statement, as they might all floo or take a portkey from The Burrow together, becuase they natuzrally have no idea where they're going.

My guess would be that it is a glitch of the HPLex, though.

Maybe there's a wedding in England and one in France? It's possible: I have an American friend who married a Frenchman, and they had a ceremony in the US, and then a year later they had a ceremony in France.
But I can't remember seeing anywhere that the wedding would be in France.

I just finished rereading HBP, and there is definitely no mention of France for the wedding. I assume it's going to be in the Burrow's garden or someplace therabouts due to Ron's comment about "coming round to my mum and dad's house."

Eh, the Lexicon makes mistakes. Sometimes. This might be one of them.

The Lexicon makes mistakes? Nooooooo! :D

::patts head:: I know, I know. It'll be alright. ;)

I dunno where they got it from. I mean, maybe JKR hinted at something in an interview, but I haven't seen it, and I dunno why Ron would say that at the end, then.

Maybe Harry will go to the Weasleys and take a portkey to France?
