Chapter 37, Wolf at the Door posted to Chamber of Secrets. Contains the first meeting between Tonks and Remus (guaranteed non-shippy, unless you regard making cups of tea as foreplay!) and some pointed advice for Tonks from Kingsley Shacklebolt.

Great chapter! I loved how Tonks met Sirius. Don't we all feel a little corny from time to time?
I have to say, I love how you show us Kingsley and Tonks' relationship. It's the most natural way of getting them to become members of the Order. I had always wondered how they had been approched, and you give an excellent answer to that question.

Thank you! I'm assuming that Dumbledore must have been reading the signs and quietly working throughout GoF on getting the old Order ready for action and sounding out potential new members. It seemed significant that the two Auror members were both new recruits with a connection to Sirius, so my guess is that they were both brought to Dumbledore's attention because of that.

Another excellent chapter. I really liked the way an unaware Tonks met Sirius in disguise.

I thought the interaction between Kingsley and Tonks was very credible. I actually had wondered at the beginning if Kingsley was already a member of the Order with an assignment from Dumbledore to recruit Tonks. I could see Dumbledore reviving the Order quietly after the events in PS myself. He obviously suspected something regarding Voldemort and Horcruxes very early on, so it would be natural for him to take precautions of that sort. However, after this last chapter I'm now leaning towards them both being recruited at the same time when they stumble across Sirius.

Thanks. My guess from the books is that Dumbledore didn't really make a start recalling the Order until the end of PoA when he found out about Trelawney's new prophecy (given that the last one had certainly set a lot of things in motion). And it would have taken him a while to do anything about Sirius (because that was something he'd only just found out about too), hence a while to start looking for new members -- I think the Weasleys and McGonagall are the only other new members in OotP? Judging from what Arthur said in OotP, I think Kingsley and Tonks were actually invited to join very shortly after the return of Voldemort, but must have been sounded out before that.
