Lyric: While I'm here, the last one was of course that popular oldie Wake Up Little Susie by the Everly Brothers from 1957 (blimey, nearly half a century ago now), as mentioned by [livejournal.com profile] tree_and_leaf, [livejournal.com profile] lazy_neutrino, and [livejournal.com profile] cassieverte. So because I'm being silly, here's a REAL oldie:

They parried and thrust, they side-stepped and cussed,
Of blood they spilled a great part;
The philologist blokes, who seldom crack jokes,
Say that hash was first made on the spot.
(1870s)

(Sorry, VMB, but it's the nearest I can get to a political slash song, in that's it's vaguely political and slashing in a different form is involved. :D)

Teenage Kicks by [livejournal.com profile] shaggydogstail -- Sirius/Stubby, R, funny and touching.

Also, I note that FictionAlley have unveiled that new author-friendly feature being hinted at -- it's a Submission Queue Bypass Option for authors who have submitted at least ten stories/chapters without getting them sent back for corrections. Interesting.

Lyrics: While I'm here, since I only posted the last one this morning I'll add another one (from the current century rather than the century before last :D).

Watching the people get lairy
Is not very pretty I tell thee
Walking through town is quite scary
And not very sensible either
(2000s)
