Fic Year in Review Meme

Fics and Ficlets I wrote in 2005: 10 (including one chaptered WIP and one not posted yet). Well, call it 11 because the second half of Conspiracy Theory was first posted on New Year's Day 2005. Of those, four are pure gen, three gen with some het included, three het, one het with slash references. Oh yeah, and one Wolfstar drabble. None are more than PG13. About half were challenge fics of one kind or another.
Favourites of the batch: A Really Bad Idea (Harry/Ginny, sort of), because it was the easiest to write, and Toujours Pur (Mrs Black), because it got Niffled!
Best of the batch: I'm not sure really -- Second Thoughts (Sorting Hat) is a bit unusual, and Different Paths (Madam Pomfrey) was very unlike my usual style (i.e. it was concise rather than discursive).
Most underappreciated by the universe: Possibly Something's Happened (Prime Minister) -- an obscure little ficlet, but one that was fun to do.
Most fun to write: A Really Bad Idea -- it seemed to just write itself!
Sexiest fic: Hardly applies with the sort of stuff I write -- Can't I Like Girls Too? (Remus/Tonks) is about the only fic that even has characters snogging onscreen.
"Holy crap, that's wrong even for you": That "Killing Curses Lecture" flashback in chapter 24 of Nymphadora Tonks and the Liquor of Jacmel was a trifle gruesome, as were some of the potions invented for the story, although mild by comparison with some. And Sleeping With The Enemy (Ron/Hermione/Lavender) had me writing about things I really know nothing about! Just be glad I never wrote that murderous!Slughorn sickfic. :D
Fic that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: I suppose Toujours Pur -- I'd never have written Mrs Black without the challenge prompt, let alone tried to do so with some understanding!
Hardest fic to do: Not Given Up Yet (Millicent Bulstrode) -- this started out as a vague idea and an opening line and just refused to cohere. I eventually knocked it into some sort of shape, but I've never really been that happy with it.
Biggest disappointment: Nymphadora Tonks and the Liquor of Jacmel, definitely. I'd originally hoped to have this finished by Christmas 2004, and then again before HBP came out. It's still got several chapters to go -- various RL reasons etc etc. I can only apologise to everyone who is following it, especially those who first saw it at Chamber of Secrets, for the absolutely ridiculous delay, and the consequent variable quality of the writing.
Biggest surprise: Can't I Like Girls Too? perhaps -- I'd never had any plans to write anything even vaguely slashy (it isn't something I find especially interesting as a genre), but I just got bitten by a plotbunny. And the as-yet-unposted fic called You Tell Her (Trio) -- it began as a very silly idea for a short fic and ended up as a semi-serious 8000 word oneshot.
Most telling fic: Don't know -- I try to avoid writing myself into a story as it's far too revealing! Some of the vaguely political comments in Featherstone's lectures in Nymphadora Tonks and the Liquor of Jacmel might be me.
(Mind you, back in 2004 Remus in Whatever Gets You Through The Night had elements of Angsty!Stu self-insert.)
