NTLJ chapter 33 at Chamber of Secrets
Dec. 18th, 2005 11:56 pmJust posted: chapter 33, Let's Face The Music And Dance (yes, too long delayed as usual, and longer than expected, as usual). In whicb Tonks and Cassius go to investigate Arkwright The Amateur Zookeeper, Tonks and Chesney go dancing, and after various embarrassing incidents a large part of the solution (which all the readers had probably worked out ages ago) finally dawns on our heroine. :)
Contains a 'character' called Feathermane (for which I shall shift all blame to
lazy_neutrino whose question gave me the idea) and far too many joky references. Ah well, it's a largely light-hearted chapter.
Right, I'd better go and see if I can knock one of two possible stories for Gun's VTM challenge thing into shape then. :)

Date: 2005-12-20 12:05 am (UTC)(I, along with many of your readers, thought of Polyjuice Potion for a long time. You did right to stay in character -- young Auror, established procedures, Polyjuice not constantly on everyone's mind, the easiest solution is usually the right etc.) The ballroom dancing was fine and made me smile, but I'm impatient to know how the plot develops.

Date: 2005-12-20 12:22 am (UTC)What seemed like simple setup scenes when I thought of them have stretched out to far too many chapters -- one of the perils of not having the whole thing written before you start posting.
The next chapter is definitely more action -- Tonks explains her idea and they set a trap for the criminal. (Not everything about said trap goes according to plan, but most of it does.) I just hope I can get it into a sensible length chapter -- but at least when it's posted a lot of little things I've been trying to slip in will finally have been used.
(Next chapter after that gives me the chance to use the already posted flashback, or alternatively just cut it and move straight to the Ministry Ball and then the final sequences.)
Thank you by the way for being willing to call me on the pacing -- I've been feeling increasingly embarrassed at the slowing pace of both the story and its posting, so my sincere apologies.
