The Olympic Torch passed by West Kensington Tube station this afternoon, which is only a short walk from where I live, so I went over to watch (along with quite a number of other people who had the same idea, of course). I haven't been following it on TV, so I hadn't realised it would actually be a small procession with floats from the sponsors and so on, the Flame itself was blink-and-you-miss-it! Anyway, here's the picspam traditional on these occasions:

Date: 2012-07-27 12:49 am (UTC)It came quite close to me too, and I had every intention of going, but I was still exhausted from laryngitus and frantically making glass, so I didn't in the end. By all accounts there was a big crowd (it being Sunday afternoon) so not even sure if I'd have been able to see much.
So it's nice to see what it was actually like - I've not followed it on TV but all the clips I've seen focus on the torch, so probably even with that there wouldn't have been much of a sense of the sponsor float part of it.
