The signup form for Yuletide 2010 is available -- for some reason it had never really caught my eye until last year's kerfuffle over the move to AO3 (old recs post here), but it looks like fun -- I see there are nearly 6000 possible fandoms listed in the dropdowns! (Are those the ones previously written or just the ones previously requested? With some of them -- e.g. "Ben & Jerry's Ice-Cream Flavors" -- I get the impression "OK ... you were taking the piss here, weren't you?")

The ones I'll be nominating are, I think:
  • Erle Stanley Gardner -- Perry Mason series (I suppose actual courtroom dénouements might be tricky unless the writer groks California law, but you never know)
  • Stephen Donaldson -- Mordant's Need (definitely lots and lots of scope there)
  • PG Wodehouse -- Mulliner stories (if anything, my favourites, even over Blandings)
plus three new ones added to the list just because you can (resisting the urge to take the piss myself by nominating "RPF -- 19th Century British Postal Officials" and requesting Rowland Hill/Colonel Maberley hatesex. Because probably no-one else would be familiar enough with the, um, pairing to write it, and I wouldn't actually be that interested in reading it, however amusing):
  • Gary Gibson -- the Shoal Sequence (a recent high-concept, high-action SF trilogy I picked up at work and rather liked)
  • Colin Kapp -- The Unorthodox Engineers (because I threatened to in the aforementioned recs post ...)
  • Game On (the 1990s TV series, which for some reason sprang to mind when browsing the list of possibles)
Unfortunately I need to assemble a list of characters for them first (and add to the very few listed for Mordant). But I mention them all here in case you'd like to offer to write one of them. :)

The fandoms in the dropdowns are previously nominated fandoms, not written or requested. I think the total requested number is somewhat less and the total written number is like half. In the past, the site would tell you which of those 6000 had already been deemed non-rare (if you tried to nominate them), but that function doesn't seem to be working right now.
