Another of my occasional odd requests
May. 12th, 2010 08:54 pmDoes anyone on my flist read Norwegian, or know someone who does? (I'm aware my flisters between them know quite a range of languages, but I can't remember Norwegian being mentioned as one of them. Or even Danish.)
It's 19th century handwritten Norwegian, if that makes a difference (a spelling reform vaguely rings a bell?), and probably wouldn't be needed for a week or two.

Date: 2010-05-13 12:12 am (UTC)Just out of curiosity, when/why did you learn Norwegian? It's not one of the bog standard foreign languages to learn, as it were.

Date: 2010-05-13 09:07 am (UTC)If you still need help, let me know. I'm Norwegian, but if it's a tricky handwriting or very oldfashioned language, I also have a friend who wrote a masters degree based on old handwritten manuscripts.

Date: 2010-05-14 06:08 pm (UTC)(As I said to the other person, it will probably take me about a week to get a scan of the old letter in question. It's from 1858, at a guess from a ship captain to the ship owner in Arendal.)
