A nice simple sounding meme
Feb. 4th, 2010 09:12 pmAbout time I posted something, so via
golden_d:
Give me one character and I will tell you:
1. OTP for them.
2. Runner-up pairing.
3. Hono(u)rable mention(s).
4. Crack pairing(s).
5. Ship everyone else seems to like, but I don't.
(Fandoms: HP, Whoniverse, LOTR, Trek (except Enterprise and the reboot), Wodehouse, ASOIAF -- feel free to suggest others if I've mentioned them before, of course.)
As she said, "considering I don't generally ship anyone enough to have an OTP, I expect this to be fun but difficult, and certainly thought-provoking". :)

Date: 2010-02-04 10:31 pm (UTC)Lily (assuming you mean the original one):
1. Has to be Lily/James because we don't have a series without it, but there's also ...
2. Lily/Snape, definitely! Poor old Sev, if only he'd not been such an idiot.
3. Lily/Remus. No, I'm not saying that because you were the one who asked -- they'd probably have done well together, given that Tonks appealed to him.
4. Lily/Slughorn! Don't tell me he wasn't carrying a torch for her, that seemed obvious even before the movie came out. :) Or how about Lily/Andromeda?
5. Lily/Sirius. Because cheating on your SO with their best friend, or your best friend with their SO, is Especially Not Cool.
The Doctor:
1. Doctor/Romana. He must have spent about a century with her, for the Doctor that's impressive! And it's a much more equal pairing than most.
2. Doctor/Donna. Because their chemistry was brilliant and there were several points at which he seemed to be in the Martha or Jack role for once.
3. In nearly 50 years of show? SO MANY POSSIBILITIES. Doctor/Jack, Doctor/Liz Shaw, Doctor/Jo Grant, Doctor/Sarah, Doctor/Nyssa, Doctor/Martha ... and that's not even counting Doctor/Jamie because I haven't seen enough Troughton episodes to tell. And wasn't there somebody called Rose he met?
4. EVEN MORE POSSIBILITIES. Doctor/Mickey, Doctor/Barbara, Doctor/Ian, Doctor/Brigadier, Doctor/Tosh, Doctor/Zoe, Doctor/Mike Yates, Doctor/Harriet Jones -- you could make them up all day. :)
5. Doctor/Master. As angsty backstory or plot driver, fine. As an OTP, not really, because the Master really is quite genuinely an evil psychotic bastard. Or for that matter Doctor/Rose, at least by the end of S2 ...

Date: 2010-02-04 11:59 pm (UTC)1. Cersei/Bronn. Because he's both devious and dangerous enough to cope with her, despite the vast power imbalance (and the common sense imbalance). Both appreciate physical qualities in the opposite sex, neither are overburdened by sentiment. Made for each other!
2. Cersei/Prince Oberyn Martell. Now that would be a fearsome partnership.
3. Cersei/Jaime, I suppose -- it says something for how the characters have developed that he now seems like a better person than her! Cersei/Asha Greyjoy, Cersei/Mance Rayder, and Cersei/Archmaester Marwyn would all have interesting possibilities for development ...
4. Cersei/Tyrion. Keeping it in the family. Cersei/Margaery, for hate!sex fans. Cersei/Dolorous Edd, because you did say 'crack', right?
5. Hmm, haven't seen enough fanon to say. Cersei/Ned, maybe?

Date: 2010-02-04 11:07 pm (UTC)1. Madeleine/Pongo Twistleton. To match her with an equal you need a chap who isn't too bright, with a soulful and hopelessly over-romantic streak, not to mention a proven susceptibility to good looks. Pongo seems like just the man for the job!
2. Madeleine/Rosie M Banks. Because you're not going to find many people quite so fluff-tolerant as Rosie.
3. Madeleine/Bingo Little. If we're splitting him and his wife up anyway he's pretty well qualified too. Madeleine/Freddie Widgeon has possibilities as well. After all, taking the two chaps together, in summary and in toto there can't be that many other girls they haven't already fallen in love with.
4. Madeleine/Jeeves. The man keeps his preferences very close to the chest, you know. Or Madeleine/Veronica Wedge -- in which Madeleine might actually be the one with more sense for once. Or just for the lulz, Madeleine/Oofy Prosser.
5. I'm not sure who anyone else pairs her with. :) So let's say Madeleine/Spode -- pretty much a 'well, I've used up both characters' comic potential now, let's get them out of the way' pairing. Even in PGW, you wouldn't bet on that one ending well.

Date: 2010-02-04 11:22 pm (UTC)2. Snape/Lucius. A slash pairing I thought might actually play well with canon, which makes a change for me!
3. Snape/Tonks (largely the result of
4. Snarry? :) Or Snape/Libatius Borage, because I've actually drabbled that. Snape/Luna can be quite fun, provided you finesse what happened in the Shack. And if we're going to do that, how about Snape/Lily Potter II?!
5. If we're sticking to the canon personalities of the characters, then Snarry, obviously (fanon versions can be OK, for some values of O and K). Otherwise, Snape/Sirius, maybe? Because no, honestly, those two really really do loathe each other.

Date: 2010-02-05 12:15 am (UTC)2. Narcissa/Blaise. Theirloveissointergenerationalandpureofblood.
3. Narcissa/Snape. Because she trusts him.
4. Narcissa/Slughorn, because he tried to collect all the Black family. Narcissa/Pansy, a consolation prize Malfoy for losing out to Asteria. Narcissa/Rowle, because she likes the blonds.
5. Narcissa/Bellatrix. Because even though there's a shortage of comparable-age characters to slash her with, this one just seems like going through the motions.

Date: 2010-02-05 11:56 pm (UTC)2. Neville/Susan. Same sort of reasoning, really.
3. Neville/Seamus. No-one ever seems to ship them. Why not?
4. Neville/Sprout! Romance blossoms in the greenhouses.
5. Um, Neville/Draco? Although I haven't got around to reading Lust Over Pendle yet, so I suppose I might change my mind after that.

Date: 2010-02-06 12:17 am (UTC)1. McGonagall/Sprout. Because canonically they understand each other. :)
2. McGonagall/Sirius! Because she could actually handle him (um, read that how you will).
3. McGonagall/Slughorn. The Prime of Miss
Jean BrodieMinerva McGonagall.4. McGonagall/Nott Snr. Another one I've drabbled. And McGonagall/Trelawney, of course. :)
5. McGonagall/Tom Riddle. Any Riddle ship sounds unlikely to me.

Date: 2010-02-06 12:07 am (UTC)2. Luna/Ron. Another OotP-based pairing that would have been fun.
3. Luna/Draco, because she's a forgiving sort. Luna/Hermione, since we're ignoring canon preferences. Luna/Snape, since we're ignoring canon deaths.
4. Luna/Blaise, perhaps. Luna/Albus Severus?
5. Luna/Neville. No actual objections to it, but it just doesn't catch my interest.
