Snow picspam

Yes, another one -- but hey, I don't get to see snow that often. :) When I was living in mild Torbay, a proper settling fall of snow seemed to happen about once every decade or thereabouts. So when I stepped outside for a breath of fresh air last night only to be confronted by a totally unexpected white vista, obviously my reaction was pretty much OH WOW THE SNOES THIS IS TOTALLY COOL (well, bloody freezing actually, as became clearer when I went for a walk in an inadequately thick coat). Unfortunately, TfL's reaction was more OH NOES THE SNOES and the tube and bus networks were screwed, but there you go.

So then, snowy pictures of my street and a couple from where I work below the cut (including a shot of Westminster Cathedral over the rooftops, which I couldn't resist).

That's a very fair point. One of my flist posted pictures from an Antarctic trip -- they looked wonderful, but I doubt I'd've actually enjoyed being there. :)

Wow! Very picturesque! There's just something magical about fresh snow and streetlamps at night! I miss it sometimes.

Here, there's definitely more grass on the ground than snow, although the storm from hell makes it look/sound way more dramatic than it is :).

Yeah -- it's the sort of thing you can't resist taking pictures of if you have a camera handy. Which is basically always these days when you have a mobile phone!

No buses. None at all (at least not in North London). I just don't geddit. Well, actually I do, but it still surprised me. Nice pix!

I arrived at the Tube station to find it locked (I normally go direct on the District line), then went to try the bus and was told "nothing's running". Although eventually I did get there via the Piccadilly and Victoria lines without actually going too far out of my normal route.

Oh, wow! That's an impressive snow by any standards. The key question is this: did you throw a snowball? I'm not sure it counts if you didn't. M.

I did throw a few snowballs, yes, albeit only at trees across the road etc! Just has to be done. (Didn't hit them, mind you -- evidently showing my lack of mad cricketing skillz again.)

Oh, wow! The London snows actually seem like they were more than the petty silliness I was laughing about this morning -- okay, partly because I was disappointed in the lack of snow in Oxford, but still. These are lovely!

It might have been thicker where I was as the road is fairly sheltered, but the pavements were horribly slippy, and there were definitely a few inches of snow not just a light dusting.

Oddly, it wasn't too cold -- there wasn't much wind, and it's the windchill factor that probably makes it really biting. But I suppose I'd struggle in Mexican heat. :)

Seriously, though, I love winter. I've been able to go snowshoeing this winter for the first time in several years.
