Advance request for beta

Would anyone be available to do a beta of my hp_holidaygen piece sometime in (hopefully) the next week or so? Unfortunately, I can't give too many details as it's an anonymous exchange, but it's a longish oneshot, written in my usual sort of style, and the POV character is someone reasonably prominent in the books. Especially useful would be comments on whether things like the characters' behaviour, the background details and so on are reasonable.

I can do it if you want me to. I am usually a pretty rapid beta and get a story back within a few hours. Next Tuesday I will be driving home for the holiday and won't be available that day - or the Sunday after that (25th) as I'll be coming back home. I will have access to e-mail, etc., during the intervening days, but may not be able to be quite as speedy because I won't be sitting on my computer due to having to eat lots of turkey and go shopping, etc. I would do the beta, it just might not be quite as fast. So, if that matters to you, I may not be the right person. However, I really like your writing and I would be happy to do it for you.

Best of luck! I'd love to read it regardless, so I hope you'll still post it -- although I'm sure that's the sort of thing mods tend to be very sympathetic about.

And I can completely understand the expanding story syndrome. My omniocular September Challenge entry is well over 5000 words and nowhere near finished.

Ah, good point. That would be useful, wouldn't it? :) (I do have an email address somewhere, I think, but I'm not sure if it's the one you're using now.)

I imagine that most mods just assume that a high proportion of entries will be late ... It didn't help in this case that I didn't see the original email (maybe it was flagged as spam) and so the first I knew about it was the comm post saying 'stories due in 10 days time'. Ulp. :)
