Answers to a few more FAQs including what house Tonks was in -- and as I suspected, it's Hufflepuff! That's the first confirmed Puff good guy (or gal), apart from the known DA students, I think. More to the point, I think it's more or less the first confirmed non-Gryffindor?

The other house answer is Myrtle, who was a Ravenclaw (surprisingly?). If I remember rightly, the original Mugglenet/Lexicon open letter question was about the house and age of Tonks and Moody, but whatever, and the ages aren't given here. I'm quite pleased with this, as I'm just coming to the point in the NTLJ revision where house affiliations came up for discussion -- so I can now have Tonks say she's a Hufflepuff instead of leaving it carefully unspecified. On the other hand, I've been trying to retract my v1.0 commitment to an exact age for her, so I'm quite happy with that not being specified. :)

The other answers are a couple of simple confirmations (yes, Tom Riddle was born on 31st December not 1st January, and yes, Alecto and Amycus are the Carrows) and a couple of questions about Draco's Patronus and wand.

Lyrics: The last one was that perennial favorite I Think We're Alone Now, originally by Tommy James and the Shondells in 1967, but of course the version most of us know best is the one by Tiffany in 1988! Let's see, who got it? Oh yes, [livejournal.com profile] sparkly_stuff, [livejournal.com profile] ladybracknell, [livejournal.com profile] lupinslittlesis, [livejournal.com profile] muggle_prof, [livejournal.com profile] magnolia_mama, [livejournal.com profile] maple_clef, [livejournal.com profile] dolabellae, and [livejournal.com profile] nineveh_uk. :)

Actually, I'd forgotten when I posted that, but Girls Aloud did a version last Christmas -- it wasn't one of their best efforts though ... And when I double-checked the dates just now, I saw a song of that title -- presumably the same one -- reached #23 for "Pascal featuring Karen Parry" in 2002, but I have absolutely no recollection of it, despite the fact that it would be ideal for one of my pub quiz "find the connection in artist of title" selections! (On programming languages, in this case -- I'd still need C# Blues though, which Hendrix apparently recorded.)

About time for a song from this year, I think:

Do I attract you?
Do I repulse you with my queasy smile?
Am I too dirty? Am I too flirty?
Do I like what you like?

I could be wholesome, I could be loathsome
I guess I'm a little bit shy
Why don't you like me?
Why don't you like me without making me try?
(2000s)

Hey, cool thing about the FAQs...I hadn't seen them yet. Thanks for pointing me that way!

As for the song, that's Mika's "Grace Kelly" :)

Interesting about Tonks. I was sort of hoping that she was a Slytherin. But as someone pointed out to me, she wears her heart too openly on her sleeve to be one. Hufflepuff seems just about right for her.

I had her down as a Gryffindor, just because the most active Order members seem to be, but I think it's a good fit for her.

I'm so delighted that Tonks was Hufflepuff. I think I'd put her in Ravenclaw because my default house for Aurors is Ravenclaw, but Hufflepuff works just as well for me (especially since I totally put her parents there). I'm just glad it's not yet another Gryffindor, or Slytherin (just because I've always felt that Tonks isn't THAT big a connection to the Black family, and that helps support my little theory).

No clue on the song, though :) Not nearly cheesy enough for me to get!

The song is Grace Kelly by some new band. Like the Artic Monkeys or something. And yay for Tonks being a Hufflepuff! It seems the right House to me.

I find it interesting Myrtle was in Ravenclaw, because it adds to the picture of Ravenclaw House as a tough place to live. They steal Luna's belongings because she's a little different; poor Myrtle got teased because she wore glasses. (OK, so no proof Olive Hornsby was also a 'Claw, but still...).

I'm starting to understand why'd she be a Hufflepuff and not, you know, a Gryffindor. I think most of the fandom (myself included), mistook her boldness for bravery when it really wasn't quite that. She does seem to fit the bill more, but it is pretty random.
