Lyrics: Last time the song was Where Is The Love? by the Black Eyed Peas (with Justin Timberlake singing uncredited on the chorus) from 2003, which [livejournal.com profile] octobersnow remembered, sort of. :)

So since I believe the birthday girl likes country, here's a country classic:

Well daddy loved and raised eight kids on a miner's pay
Mommy scrubbed our clothes on a washboard every day
Well I seen her fingers bleed
To complain there was no need
She'd smile in mommy's understanding way
(1970s)

(I have to confess -- I picked up a "Best Of" CD from this artist on spec a while ago and found I really liked it. Hey, I'm partial to a little country from time to time.)

See now that you've mentioned the title I can get to the chorus! Gah! I'm good at recognizing stuff, but horrible at actually remembering the titles. Now on this one I'm gonna make a wild stab in the dark based on the first line, Coal Miner's Daughter? by a woman whose name is not Patsy Cline, but is similarly eluding me at this time.

*goes to Google, because it will bug me the rest of the day otherwise*
