Wow. Those are the unpopular opinions? That all sounded like common sense to me, and in fact common sense that shouldn't need stating. While I've read the books, I've pretty much avoided the fandom, and now I think I understand why.

My usual habit is to avoid fanfic until the source material has run dry. I prefer to go along with the original creator for the ride, and then contemplate other possibilities after-the-fact. I guess that's my own unpopular fandom opinion.
