I tend to think of slash as a special kind of fanfic, not dissimilar to the het pairing of unlikely people; but though I like it on what aubrem calls the 'id vortex' level, it doesn't make sense in the way that, say, fill-in-the-gaps gen fanfic does; and when HBP came out last year I had to give it all up because it was confuddling my view of the original.
5. However, the OOC stuff is possibly why I'm writing (maybe) a slash HP novel with 2 made-up characters, because I can then play with the world and not trouble myself with messing up Harry's psyche.

Huh. There must be some good Harry/Ginny out there, to fill in the HBP gaps, although I do believe that (HBP) was JKR shooting romance down with a big gun.
