After much procrastination on my part -- and with the help of someone who betas at both Checkmated and the Sugar Quill -- I finally submitted a couple of stories to the latter, and they've now been posted (Dangerous Driving, the Ernie Prang story, and Sleeping With The Enemy, Hermione-Ron-Lavender triangulation). Yay. :)

Incidentally, does anyone who posts at the Quill know if it's possible to be notified of reviews, or to reply to them other than by adding another review? I couldn't even find a link to a 'user control panel' type page for setting preferences, if there is one!

Lyrics: Last time the song was of course the Pulp classic Common People from 1995. (ETA I should have listed [livejournal.com profile] parthenia14, [livejournal.com profile] tree_and_leaf, [livejournal.com profile] lazy_neutrino, [livejournal.com profile] dreamer_marie, and [livejournal.com profile] meddow as the spotters.) If you were wondering where the HP and Star Trek bits came in, the Pulp songwriter/frontman was Jarvis Cocker, who did the music for the GoF film and played the Weird Sister singer. And William Shatner did a version of Common People in 2004 -- with Joe Jackson on backing vocals! -- which is wonderful in its sheer insanity. :D

I heard a snatch of this oldie yesterday on somebody's car radio, and it reminded me that the second verse must surely be worth some sort of prize for Strange And Slightly Disturbing Lyrics:

I've got your picture, I've got your picture
I'd like a million of you over myself
I asked the doctor to take your picture
So I can look at you from inside as well
(1980s)
