Icon of my childhood, and more recently adulthood for that matter, gone. I wandered onto the wrong floor at work and saw it on the big screen newsfeed. Hadn't even known she was ill. Ouch.

I know. :( It's common nowadays to read people saying that 'your' Doctor is always the one you grew up watching, but it's her I remember more vividly.

I see there is another series of Sarah Jane filmed, but that drabble you wrote for me seems even more of a fitting place to leave the character (and Liz Sladen) now.

Nobody knew she was ill. To have such a terrible disease and still be able to keep it to oneself and go to work like nothing's going on just shows an immense amount of courage.
