Plot bunnies etc

Anyone else noticed something odd about plot bunnies? After a while thinking in fanficwritingy terms, the little bastards seem to breed like -- erm, rabbits. In a dull moment at work the other day (this happens not infrequently) I jotted down a list of all the ideas I'd had for stories, and there were about nineteen of the damn things. Several would need to be chaptered. A couple would need to be Schnoogle-length.

This suggests, or possibly confirms, that I am in fact officially Becontree. (*)

On that subject, I just posted a somewhat tweaked version of my Astronomy Towerish non-parody story Sleeping With The Enemy at Chamber of Secrets (I lack the nerve to submit it to FictionAlley yet). One of those darn plot bunnies again, one I had for the FA "OMG! It's HBP!" challenge but didn't get around to until afterwards.


(*) As you will see if you have a London Underground map handy, that's two stops beyond Barking ...

You're being a bit hard on yourself - I'd reckon you're in the vicinity of East Ham ;)

Out of curiousity, of the nineteen, how many are you actually intending to write? Or has seeing them listed made it easier to put some of the bunnies to sleep, as it were?

*counts quickly* At least a dozen, I think. Plus one more I remembered today that I thought about doing for Gun's VTM contest. Oy. (Er, was that East Ham station I saw passing just now ...?)

Of the others, one is a songfic, so no (especially as the song is Paint It Black), one is frankly rather sick (involving a murderous Slughorn), and one is a Marauderfic that I'd only do if I could find a way of preventing it turning into an entire Year 6 story (based on an idea from lupinslittlesis). And the potentially longest would require boiling a bunch of random ideas and scenes down into a coherent plot (being a Grand Sprawling Epic sort of thing).

That should however read "definitely considering" rather than actually "intending" though!

Yes. It is. And the prize goes to ...snorkackcatcher (blimey, that's a long name) for being the first person ever to comment on it.

It's kind of a multilevel joke, because also I live in a touristy town.

I see that the iron law of friending means i've just written an embarrassing post about kilts. Oh, could've been worse.

The name rang a faint bell as a song title ... I thought at first it might be by Franz Ferdinand or somebody, then I remembered I'd seen it on a compilation I'd got.

I know what you mean about living in touristy towns -- so do I. (Not that I actually visit the beach more than about once a year.) And the kilts post was quite amusing. :)

Possibly not, but the sickness lies in the reason for him being murderous. I was rereading The Other HBP Hospital Wing Scene and was struck by somebody asking "why would Slughorn want to poison Ron?", which seemed like a fair question since apparently he can't even remember his name. Add to that a vague, somewhat creepy, almost certainly authorially unintended vibe I got from his reminiscences in the Hagrid's cabin scene and elsewhere and ... um, I think you can probably see where that would be going, and it wouldn't really be a good place to go, would it. :)
